WOD #11

Today’s Proverb reveals another gem of wisdom – the importance of effective partners. Many of us pursue our dreams alone, taking greater risk and missing out on valuable guidance.

If corporations are guided by experienced boards of directors, so can we. Today, think about three areas in your life where you could use some backup or where you feel exposed. (For a good analogy, remember The Blind Side.)

Now, think of three people that are experts in that area. This week, make time to contact them about serving on your “personal board of directors.” Chances are, they’ll be flattered to share their knowledge.

Consider that one a HUGE deposit to your wisdom account, and don’t forget to draw on it.

Together,

Building Your Cabinet

Simply seeking a single opinion is not enough to avoid a fall. Solomon claims that if we truly want to be sure we’re making the best decision possible on an important issue or concern, we need many counselors.

In Proverbs 24:6, Solomon tells us, “For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war; and in a multitude of counselors there is safety.” Solomon is literally talking about war here, but his recommendation is applicable to any action or competition. By seeking wise counsel before you initiate action, you are far more likely to choose your battles wisely, and win the battles you choose.

So often we create conflict with our spouses, children, or others over issues that are insignificant. Objective counselors will often help us see such issues in their proper perspective.
