2025 wasn’t a flashy year.
Big chunks of it were kinda boring. And the parts that weren’t were mostly medical emergencies. The kind that erase your to-do list and simplify your priorities – quick.
What I recently realized is that between those two extremes, something else happened last year. This became a year of strengthening foundations. Not because it was exciting, but because it was necessary. Much of it went unnoticed until I started my year-end reflection and planning process. But it’s there. The progress is real.
And it feels worth shaking off the rust to write about.
Reinforcing the Core at Coach.me
We wrapped 2025 with three new favorite numbers:
- 1.2 million check-ins on Coach.me in 2025
- 20,054 new users who joined this year
- 95 active coaches currently in our habit directory
The numbers are meaningful. But that’s not the most exciting part. The biggest accomplishment is overcoming nearly a decade of technical neglect. The platform is fully functional. Both mobile apps are updated. The website is refreshed, and setup on an appropriate architecture. Crash rates and bug reports are nearly non-existent. Our team is cohesive and aligned on priorities and systems.
After a two-year infrastructure restoration, we’re healthy and ready to move forward. Here’s a fun video with our plans for what’s coming next. (For more background, here’s the recap from last year.)
Planting our Pillars at RLA CPA Firm
For the CPA Firm, our main inflection point occurred in late summer when we locked in our Leadership Team.
From there, everything else flowed more naturally. Roles and responsibilities clarified. Systems smoothed out. Communications flowed more proactively. Tracking dashboards became more useful. Team members saw clear paths for growth. Revenue is up more than 25%, and we still have capacity.
With that momentum, we decided to move forward with a long-awaited logo update and brand refresh. Our new logo and pillars capture who we are: a firm grounded in high-touch relationships, high-tech systems, and a commitment to teamwork and resilience.
We’ve been counting down for the calendar to turn so that we could implement the ideas and insights for this coming year’s cycle. It’s gonna be an especially fun tax season this spring.
Four Generations of Family
Some of the most meaningful progress in 2025 didn’t happen in a meeting or on a screen.
Our Beeville Family Ranch property is now fully operational. Mom is settled into the original house. Dad is in the barndominium. It’s finally coming together the way it was intended – to ensure all four generations are connected and close.
There are still finishing touches needed. There likely always will be. But the core is in place. What started as a vision (and with my Nana’s final words to me) is now a reality. This is perhaps the most challenging project in my portfolio. And also the most rewarding. To be working together with my Mom and Dad to build our family legacy (literally and figuratively) is an experience I never thought possible, and one that I am most grateful for.
Investing in My Inner Circle
Another foundation that quietly strengthened in 2025 was my circle of connections.
As the year unfolded, I became more intentional about how (and with whom) I invested my time and energy. I paid closer attention to the relationships that supported thoughtful leadership, steady decision-making, and long term health.
That intentionality showed up through communities like Dynamite Circle, where I (finally) joined DC Black this year, and through the continued partnership of the Boards of Directors at both Coach.me and RLA. Having trusted advisors who bring experienced perspectives, ask better questions, and help me separate meaning from noise has been invaluable – especially in a year that included both slow stretches and high-stakes moments.
I’m also deeply grateful for my coaches and mentors. Their guidance was rarely a big breakthrough. More often, it showed up as a steady supportive space, facilitated honest reflection, and encouragement to stay the course when progress wasn’t obvious yet.
A Little More Room
The foundation is stronger now.
The pace is steadier. The systems work. The people around me are solid. Life feels settled and breatheable.
As 2026 begins, there’s a little more room –
for what’s next,
for what’s unexpected,
and maybe, in the right season, for someone worth sharing it with.
